The Process of Having a Scalp Micropigmentation or Scalp Tattoo Treatment at Scalp Esthetica

TORONTO - Nov. 3, 2015 - PRLog -- Many of Scalp Esthetica’s clients and potential clients ask similar questions during the consultation process.  Some of the questions revolve around the process of having a Scalp Micropigmentation treatment and what is involved.  Scalp Esthetica has broken down the process so that you can better understand the process and procedures of having a Scalp Tattoo or Hair Tattoo.

Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP)
Scalp Micropigmentation is the process, similar to having a classic tattoo, of implanting thousands of pigmented microdots into the scalp to replicate the look of hair follicles.  These pigmented hair follicles give the scalp the appearance of a freshly shaved head of hair, or this same process can add density and fullness to Men and Women with thinning hair.  Although the process is similar to having a classic tattoo, the pigments and needles used in Scalp Micropigmentation differ, as well as the location and placement of the microdots.  In SMP, the pigmented hair follicles are placed in the deep epidermis, whereas, in classical tattooing, ink is placed in the dermis of the skin.

Scalp Micropigmentation Consultation

At Scalp Esthetica, we like to go into a bit of the history of this business and let clients know how far this industry has come in a few short years.  It is imperative that you seek the consultation with the actual SMP Artist that will be doing your treatment, rather than a sales associate of the company.  The client should feel comfortable in the knowledge that the SMP Artist doing the treatment is experienced and trustworthy.  Once the client has booked the consultation, most likely they have done their homework and some research and have questions for the SMP Artist, who should be able to answer them honestly and openly.  The SMP Artist should discuss the process and procedure, as well as the pigments and needles they plan on using for your skin type.  At Scalp Esthetica we also draw your new hair line so that you can see what you will look like after the SMP treatment.  The hair line is the most important part of the process, and we ensure that it is to customer specifications.

The Scalp Micropigmentation Treatment

A few days before your treatment, you should receive a phone call and an email with detailed instructions on the do’s and don’ts over the next few days to ensure that you have a safe and effective treatment.

When you arrive, the numbing process begins.  Although, there is relatively no pain during the procedure, Scalp Esthetica uses only medical grade numbing cream to make clients feel more comfortable and to relieve any anxiety.  Before pictures with and without the hair line are taken in order to document the treatment.

During the treatment, the SMP Artist will be in constant communication with the client to ensure they are comfortable, and that their pain level and anxiety levels are low.  The client will feel like a cat scratching their head after thousands of pigmented microdots are put on the head.

The head will be red and somewhat swollen, but not painful.  After the redness subsides in 8-12 hours, all that is left are the results.

The SMP Artist should go over a detailed after care sheet and apply lotions or Vaseline to the head so that the client feels comfortable leaving the office.
